Welcome to our Blog!

seasons.jpgBlogs can be annoying, especially when effectively managing the details of our own demanding lives always seems to be more than we handle. We don’t intend to add to your daily load by inviting you to “Check out our blog!”, but our newsletters are sometimes few and far between, so we thought we’d give you access to some of our more recent ruminations and activities by blogging. If you’re interested, show up. If not, we won’t ask that you turn in your friendship card. :)

I’m a novice at the blogging thing, but I hope to not only keep you informed about us, but to share book recommendations and reflections from my recent study and writing. We hope that it will allow us to share more of the seasons of our lives with you.

At present I am working on two writing projects. One is a chapter in a book written by a team of diverse Christian workers called the TACT group. Our book is on spiritual formation and how we participate in that process with God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The TACT team is made up of theologians, Bible scholars, seminarians, and practitioners, and I definitely fall into the latter category. The chapter I’m working on, along with Donald McGilchrist, an esteemed Navigator colleague, is on the role of suffering in the process of our spiritual transformation.

The second project I hope to get to soon is writing about the death of our 19-year-old daughter Paula, and what we have learned in and through going through this intimate and profound loss. As we have expressed before, our personal loss woke us up to the suffering of others, and we are learning from the fellowship of suffering into which we have been unwilling ushered.

Research and prep work for these writing projects has led me to some fascinating books, and it would be a pleasure to share them with you in future blog entries. –Peggy
